Navy (1-2) and Air Force (2-1) will meet on the gridiron for the 59th time (Air Force leads 34-24) when the two square off on CBS on Saturday at 12-noon ET / 10:00 am MT at Falcon Stadium (39,411) in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Saturday’s contest marks the first leg in the battle for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy. It is presented annually to the winner of the football competition among the three major service academies — Army, Navy and Air Force — and is named in honor of the President of the United States. The winner of the CIC visits the White House in the spring. If the teams all go 1-1 against each other, whoever currently possesses the trophy keeps it, but they do not get to visit the White House. Navy is currently in possession of the trophy after winning it the last two years. The second game of the competition is set for Nov. 7 when Air Force travels to Army (7:30 pm on CBS) and the final contest, the annual Army-Navy Game presented by USAA, will be played Dec. 12 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (3:00 pm on CBS).
